The Klondyke Nugget

Stage Play Poster. In the late 1800’s, a man by the name of Samual Franklin Cody started a Wild West show of his own with a cast mostly comprised of his own family members. Modeled after W.F. Cody’s character, he was often confused as the real Buffalo Bill. Like many at the time, he was obsessed with what W.F. Cody had created even claimed to be related to Buffalo Bill, a statement that got him into some trouble at one point. In 1898, Samual started touring his latest stage play, “The Klondyke Nugget”. It would go to become his most famous show. This is an original poster from that tour. Shortly after the success of that show, he changed his focus to aviation. He went on to become the first man to fly a powered aircraft in the UK and is considered to be one of the pioneers of manned flight. Needless to say, this is a very rare poster with a fascinating history.
